888Poker to Review Luis Suarez’s Contract

The fallout from the biting incident has not abated for Luis Suarez who was recently handed down a 4 month ban for biting his Italian opponent Giorgio Chiellini during the Italy Uruguay World Cup fixture. Uruguay would go on to score, winning the match 1-0 and advancing through the Group stages of the World Cup, while Italy was eliminated.

888poker has announced that the relationship with Suarez was being reviewed after the Uruguay and Liverpool striker allegedly bit an Italian Defender. 888poker said that it will not tolerate unsportsmanlike behaviour. This comes just one month after Suarez signed a profitable deal to become 888poker’s brand ambassador ahead of the World Cup which is taking place in Brazil.

Some poker players had outlined their concerns about Suarez joining 888poker from the start as he has been involved in many controversial incidents, including two previous biting incidents, one on Chelsea’s Branislav Ivanovic and another one for biting PSV Eindhoven’s Otman Bakkal. He was also banned and fined back in 2011 for using racially abusive language to Manchester United and France international Patrice Evra.

His other sponsor, Adidas also said that they would be awaiting the results of the FIFA investigation.

With Suarez no longer able to play in the World Cup, Uruguay’s chances are seriously inhibited as he is their superstar striker who has played an essential roll in advancing beyond the group stages in the World Cup.
