The latest European Poker Tour winner isn't from Europe. Tim Vance, from the USA, took down the Scandinavian Open champion on the tour, the latest leg before the Warsaw Open coming around the corner. His victory netted him a title and a ton of cash - more than $1.2 million.

Check out our 2008 EPT Offers here!

Tim Vance hails from St. Louis, Missouri; so how did he wind up at the Copenhagen Casino in Denmark? Vance was a fortunate winner of a prize package from online poker room Poker Stars, which got him in country and in his seat. The event that won him his seat was an online frequent player point satellite he played for free. So $0 turns into a Scandinavian poker vacation and then over a million bucks? Not a bad return on investment.

Local player Soren Jensen was the last man standing between Vance and his goal, and Jensen took about $700,000 for second place after a four hour battle with Vance.

The top payouts were as follows:

Tim Vance (USA)
$1.2 million (€834,964)

Soren Jensen  (Denmark)
$700,000 (€472,675)

Magnus Hansen (Denmark)
$407,000 (€274,547)

Rasmus Hede Nielsen (Denmark)
$310,000 (€209,448)

Daniel Ryan (USA)
$256,000 (€172,653)

Nicolas Dervaux (France)
$201,000 (€135,858)

Simon Dorsland (Denmark)
$159,000 (€107,554)

Patrik Andersson (Sweden)
$113,000 (€76,420)
