Eric Froehlich - It might be a good thing if Internet poker players, upon becoming a live tournament figure at events such as the World Series of Poker and the World Poker Tour, do NOT use their online names as their poker nicknames. It might be good in some cases, but for Eric Froehlich, not so much. Unless “EFro” is something entirely different than an online screen name…
Either way, EFro or not, this Twenty Something is an undisputed poker star, having screamed on to the scene in the 2005 WSOP to become the youngest player ever to win a bracelet. Hanging with the “Crew” of other young poker stars, Eric snagged $361,910 in 2005’s Event 4, a Limit Hold’em game, and has not looked back since. Only 4 cashes to his name a year later, they include a second first place finish, a second bracelet, and nearly a second three hundred grand purse when he won 2006’s Event 26B, Pot Limit Omaha, which Eric says is his favorite poker game.
With total winnings of $676,549, this Springfeild, VA man looks up to Mike Matusow and Phil Ivey for poker inspiration, and even his favorite celebrity is a new poker convert, Shannon Elizabeth.
