After seeing how the rest of the world was getting on with poker, the South Pacific nation of Papua New Guinea will be joining those countries with live poker rooms, thanks to the recent passing of a gambling bill. The country’s 20 provinces will each be able to pursue brick and mortar casinos if they so chose with a ten year license.
The Prime Minister was heard to say that New Guinea is hoping for an economic booster shot from the introduction of poker rooms and casinos, which will have to pay a 20 percent duty to the government. In addition to the draw of gambling to the South Pacific nation, the construction of casinos and resorts will add jobs and bolster the economy.
