Dan Harrington knows a thing or two about poker. It's been said before, so it might sound a bit trite, but it bears repeating; he is the man who literally wrote the book on no limit Texas hold'em tournament poker. In fact, he wrote three of them for starters, all titled "Harrington on Hold'em." He has the credentials to be taken seriously on the subject, as he did win the World Series of Poker main event in 1995. His name, his books, and his awful green hat are all legendary- so it is fitting that he recently won the 2007 World Poker Tour Legends of Poker event.

He entered this event knowing exactly what to do- how could he not? By playing his best he managed to make the final table, the TV table, at this prestigious event, and he had some tough competition for company. Jack Liu was there, as well as Michael McClain, Thu Nguyen and Tom Schneider. But the worst of it was the man they call "The Dragon", David Pham- he would prove to be the toughest competitor.

Pham was actually the low stack coming into the event, with less than half a million in tournament chips. Dan was in second chip position with just over two million. David worked his magic and managed a quick double up, and managed to dodge Harrington whenever he was in a major pot. Both players played craftily enough to wind up facing each other in heads up play.

The Dragon took a bite or two out of the table, eliminating a number of players, until he entered heads up with a 3 to 2 chip lead. Dan had him just where he wanted him. In just a few short hands Harrington wound up with all the chips and the title of the latest Legend of Poker.
