Grand is a pretty good word to describe one of the hottest tournaments online today. Found at the online poker room with the perfect name, PokerRoom, the Grand is a tournament that requires you to pay a Grand to play and has a very grand prize pool. Of course you can always qualify to play for less!

PokerRoom is one of the old school online poker rooms, so they know how to do things right. The Grand is no exception. The buy in is $1,000 plus a $40 tourney fee, which makes the prize pools huge. Anytime you have players willing to put up a thousand dollars you know you face stiff competition, but there is dead money in the game as well. With the amount of qualifiers that PokerRoom offers to get into the event on the cheap, that is.
The Grand events run every month, starting at 20:00 CT time.
Here are a few more reasons why this event is so Grand. First, the deepstack!
You start out with 10,000 in chips – that is not a typo. Your ten thousand in chips will let you play a long game strategy, as will the blind levels, which go up every 30 minutes! This is more like a major live poker event than an online event.
To add to that feel the game takes place over three days! There are two starting day flights, day 1A and 1B, and then Day 2. This gives players time to rest, talk strategy, and dream big. And take lots of stomach medicine for the nerves.
The next Grand event is this month, running February 25, 26 and 27.
