A Sit and Go, or SnG, is a tournament that is typically a single-table event. The game gets started when a predetermined number of players pay the entry fee and sit down; this is different from a MTT or Multi-Table-Tournament, which kicks off at a certain time regardless of how many players there are. A heads up SnG is, as you might have guessed, a two player Sit-and-Go.

In a typical Heads Up SNG online environment you will see a single player waiting at a table; you select the table, buy-in, and are seated with your opponent. Many SNGs start with a standard 1,500 or 2,000 in chips, and the blinds go up fairly quickly. In the beginning the players will spend some time figuring each other out, and then as the blinds go up, so do the attempts to outsmart the opponent.

You may find your opponent shoving all-in right away, over and over; this is, unfortunately, a sign that the other player just wants to gamble. Take your time, look for your best spot, and then go all in with them, hopefully with a marginal edge like a big pair. It will be a crap shoot; make notes on this player so you can avoid him or her in the future.

Otherwise take some time and test the waters; find out if your opponent always bets when an ace hits the flop, or defends their blinds, or won't stand up to multiple continuation bets.

Heads up play is the most like chess, and if you are thoughtful and strategic, you can have a lot of fun and make money while playing.
