WSOP 2008: what's on this week

The WSOP is now in full swing and there are two big events approaching fast - the World Championship Heads Up No-Limit Hold'em event and the World Championship Limit Hold'em event. With the high buy-in for these tournaments these are likely to be well contested events with some star names in the fields.

Last year the WSOP Heads Up Championship was won by a total unknown, American Daniel Schreiber, as he came through the 392 strong field in an event where the buy-in was $5,000 to win his first tournament cash ever, not only at the WSOP but at any poker event. Schreiber beat Las Vegas pro Mark Muchnik in the best of three final to take home the $425,495 first prize.
The World Championship Limit Hold'em event in 2007 was won by American Saro Getzoyan as he came through a field of 257 entries in the $5,000 buy-in event. The final table was the most cosmopolitan of the entire 2007 World Series with seven nations (Canada, China, France, Iran, Norway, Sweden and the United States) represented. Getzoyan, whose parents were originally from Armenia beat fellow American Geoff Sanford heads up to take the $333,379 first prize.
Both these massive tournaments are going to be some of the most highly contested tournaments of the entire World Series with a huge prize pool expected for both of them. Make sure to come back to guidetopoker.com to find out who was victorious.
