Want to go to the Irish Poker Tour in 2008? How about 2009? How about every year until 2013? That's the plan for one lucky poker player who wins the latest Paddy Power Poker promotion.
The biggest promotion ever- that's how the Irish poker powerhouse Paddy Power Poker is billing their latest promo, and who can blame them? "Paddy First" is the name of it, and the gist if it is a free seat at one of the biggest poker celebrations in the world for five straight years.
There is a catch, of course. Call it the "rules", if you will.
First, you have to qualify for the Irish Open via PaddyPowerPoker.com, which makes sense. Next, you have to win it. Well, that's what you are there for, right?
So if you qualify via PPP and win the 2008 Irish Open, you will get a free seat for the next five years. (Hey, that's a total of SIX years!) If the buy in stays around €4,500, that's a €22,500 prize on top of the cash prize for winning the Irish Open.
So let's say you manage to qualify for the 2008 Irish Open via PaddyPowerPoker.com but don't actually win it—what then? A consolation prize will be awarded to the Paddy Power player who makes it the furthest-- a free seat into the 2009 Irish Open.
If you fail to win or place the highest, you are still in for a great time. The Irish Open is a festival events that is the longest running major poker tournament series outside of the World Series of Poker. In fact the founder of the event kicked it off after playing in the WSOP, and it has remained one of Europe's biggest, most prestigious events ever since.
(Editor's Note: If you want to play in the daily qualifiers running at Paddy Power Poker, you have to sign up first!)
