Alexey Rybin Leads EPT San Remo after Day 1a

Volcanic ash clouds from Iceland may be grounding planes around Europe, but that cannot stop the most determined poker players making their way to the European Poker Tour stops.  The cream of European poker are a little further south from the menacing ash clouds of Iceland right now, in San Remo, Italy.

With Day 1a in the books it's Alexey Rybin that tops the chip counts in San Remo, with Manuel Coppola in hot pursuit.  Rybin put in a solid days play in the £5,300 buy-in main event which featured 585 players at the start.  By the time the chips were bagged up, a little after mindnight, almost half had been sent to the exits or cash games.

Amongst the Day 1a survivors were seriel EPT players; Dario Minieri and Luca Pagano.  Jude Ainsworth, Michael Keiner, Humberto Brenes and Arnaud Mattern are also well positioned.

Day 1b is about to begin with a field expected to eclipse that of Day 1a.  Confirmed to take part today are; Team
