Allan Baekke Leads EPT San Remo after Day 4

Winning an EPT title is considered one of the highlights of a poker player's career right now.  Winning two, back to back, is unheard of but that's what Danish player Allan Baekke is on the verge of doing at the San Remo leg of the European Poker Tour.

Baekke entered Day 4 in fourth place and continued to press home is dominant form throughout the day.  When the 66 players were whittled down to just 24, Baekke was sitting pretty at the top of the chip count tree with 3.4 million in chips.  His nearest rival is almost a million behind right now and Baekke looks short odds to win unprecidented back to back EPT titles.

There are a host of strong challenges on Baekke's tail.  Not many will be household names but Liv Boeree is one name (and face... and body!) that most poker fans with recognise.  Boeree had a tough time getting to San Remo for the tournament due to the Icelandic volcano ash cloud and grounded aircraft.  Following two days of grinding Boeree has found herself with a great chance of making her first EPT final table.  She sits in 15th with an average chip stack.

The top ten players going into Day 5 look like this:

1. Allan Baekke – 3,483,000
2. Dermot Blain – 2,568,000
3. Dmitry Stelmak – 2,284,000
4. Ramon Demon Cserei – 2,141,000
5. Ronny Kaiser – 2,032,000
6. Paul Berende – 2,002,000
7. Claudio Piceci – 1,872,000
8. Jakob Karlsson – 1,812,000
9. Mohsen Tayfeh – 1,788,000
10. Jens Thorson – 1,872,000
