Andrew Couldridge wins UKIPT Nottingham

Andrew Couldridge, a 44-year old from London, has won the Nottingham leg of the PokerStars UK & Ireland Poker Tour (UKIPT) £500 No Limit Hold’em event  at Dusk Till Dawn poker club. He outlasted a field of 650 runners to claim the victory in the second-largest tournament in UK poker history earning himself £80,000 and a seat in the EPT London event worth £5,250.

After 3 gruelling days of play, Couldridge, who owns a plumbing company in London, defeated Oliver Schaffman heads-up. Following his win he said, “'It's been a very tiring three days of ups and downs. This was my first UKIPT event; it's a very good tour with lots of play and [it] was a very enjoyable tournament.”

He also said that he would use some of his winnings to follow Spurs in the Premiership and Champions League next season.

The UKIPT Nottingham also featured side events including a £100 Ladies Event and £200 six-max event. Team PokerStars Pro, JP Kelly, took down the six-max event for over £11,000.

UKIPT host, Nick Wealthall, said, “We arrived at Dusk Till Dawn with great expectations that the event somehow managed to exceed. The card room must be one of the best places in Europe to play poker - the number of players and the level of play lived up to the setting. We've also broken our duck and finally have our first UK winner, so Andrew has made a bit of history for himself and for UKIPT.”

The next leg of the UKIPT will be held at the Gleneagles Hotel in Killarney, Ireland with the €1000+€100 main event starting on June 24th.
