Asian Poker Tour Kicks Off in the Phillipines

The APT is kicking off in the Philippines this week. Party Poker is one of the best ways to qualify for APT events and there are 22 Party Poker qualifiers who will be playing in the $2700 main event over the next few days.

The overall prize package for the APT Phillipines are worth an estimated $6,000 which includes the main-event buy-in, hotel fees and spending money.

The event boasts a rich tradition of rewarding online qualifiers with several of the 2008 top finishers being players from online qualifiers. A number of them actually entered the tournaments having won satellites.

PartyPoker player Rory Reese Brennan is the Irish Poker Championship winner and will be competing in the event. The Dublin-based poker pro will be facing off starting on Thursday against competition from the Pacific Rim and the rest of the world.

A number of other tournaments are also happening around the event with a Pot-Limit Omaha tournament scheduled as well as a GREED tournament, and a Headhunter event. A number of APT sponsored pro's will be in attendance and competitors are advised to keep their eyes peeled for David Rheem, Nam Lee, Steve Sung and Quinn Do amongst others.
