Bodog Announces Random Number Generator Certification

In the world of online poker there is a lot of talk about certification and a lot of concern about reliability and above- board business practices, and Bodog Poker has recently announced one more reason they are a quality site with an official certification on their Random Number Generator (RNG).

A poker site uses a RNG in order to deal cards in the fairest way possible. The very nature of the beast-the fact that people are putting their trust in a computer and software in order to play poker online-lends itself to fraud. Imagine how easy it would be to have a program deal cards exactly as you want it to and you can understand why poker players get twitchy when talking about security. Fortunately the RNG is around to keep things honest; a RNG is essentially a piece of software written to deal cards completely fair and completely random, often more fair and random that a deck of cards shuffled and dealt by hand.

Bodog has been in business for a while now, and the press release that talks about their new RNG certification does not mention why it is only now that they achieved this new status, but it does talk about the "rigorous testing" the RNG underwent. At least to say that it underwent rigorous testing, anyway.

The RNG at Bodog was examined by Gaming Associates of the United Kingdom, which awarded them the stamp of approval. The Bodog RNG, in their own words, is "highly sophisticated" and uses a unique system to "guarantee the absolute security of its poker product."

Sounds good to me.

Bodog is known for not just their online poker room but also their variety of entertainment venues, from other forms of online gaming to boxing and even music, and even a reality TV show based on poker and partying.
