Britain had they day in the poker spotlight as Brits dominated the PokerStars EPT Vilamoura Event.
With a record tying three Brits at the final table, expectations were high as to if one of them would be able to deliver the goods and take down the coveted silverware and the almost half million Euros that come with it.
In the end, it was Britain’s Toby Lewis, at just 20 years of age that walked away with 1st place and €467,835 in prize money.
Teddy Sheringham Makes EPT Final Table
British football legend Terry Sheringham of England and Manchester United fame would make the final table finishing at a career best 5th place and winning €93,120 in prize money.
British supporters were out in force as always when their countrymen take part in any competitive sporting event. At the rail they would cheer as the Brits took down pots at the final table. Britain’s WSOP bracelet winner James Dempsey was on hand to support his countrymen as well as Team PokerStars Pro JP Kelly. No English celebration is complete without a beer at hand creating an exciting atmosphere for this great event.
Brit Trickett Runs Terribly
Britain’s Sam Trickett would run terribly at the Final Table taking one of the worst beatings and runs of bad luck seen in a long time. He would be involved in a total of seven all in situations, being ahead 6 of the 7 times, and winning only one pot of the seven!
Despite a run that would make Phil Hellmuth’s head explode and probably cause him to weep openly, Trickett kept his cool and behaved like a true pro and gentleman.
He would finish in 4th place and walk away with €139,680 to help ease his pain.
