EPT San Remo Won by Liv Boeree

The EPT in San Remo came to a conclusion last night with the UK's Liv Boeree emerging as the winner following a heads up struggle with Sweden's Jakob Carlsson.

Boeree had never made an EPT final table before and, following a battle to get to San Remo to play the event, the 26 year old Maxim magazine pin up had to grind her way through most of the event.  After keeping herself in contention she arrived at the final table with an average chip stack, within a matter of a couple of hours she was in the final three and looking a short price to take the title.

Eventually play went to the heads up stages and it was Jakob Carlsson who stood in the way of Boeree glory.  The Swede had been at the head of the chip counts for two days and appeared in no mood to relinquish his stranglehold on the tournament.

Shortly after a dinner break, and after Boeree has built up a substantial chip lead, Carlsson moved all his chips in with A-6.  Boeree pondered for a while before calling with her pocket 5s.  The board didn't improve either player and Boeree's pocket pair was enough to win the hand and the EPT San Remo title.

The final table cashes from the EPT San Remo looked like this:

1 – Liv Boeree — €1,250,000
2 – Jakob Carlsson — €750,000
3 – Toni Pettersson — €420,000
4 – Michael Piper — €345,000
5 – Alexey Rybin — €270,000
6 – Giuseppe Diep — €210,000
7 – Claudio Piceci — €150,000
8 – Atanas Gueorguiev — €90,000
