Freddy Deeb wins WPT Grand Prix de Paris High Roller Event

Freddy Deeb, WSOP bracelet winner and champion of the 2009 WPT Celebrity Invitational, has won the Party Poker World Poker Tour’s Grand Prix de Paris High Roller event for €290,000. He managed to outlast the 24 poker stars that had entered the €20,000 event at the Aviation Club de France, eventually beating his heads-up opponent Titan Poker pro Sorel Mizzi.

Deeb came to the final table second in chips to Mizzi so it comes as no surprise that they ended up in the heads-up stage together. Mizzi managed to build a 2:1 chip lead but Deeb persevered and succeeded in building his stack after his A-K held up against Mizzi’s A-Q.

The final hand came down to another A-K vs A-Q with Deeb on the good side of the race resulting in him eliminating Mizzi and winning the tournament.

Final positions and payouts:

1.Freddy Deeb (€290,000)
2.Sorel Mizzi (€120,000)
3.Roger Hairabedian (€40,000)
4.Gianni Giaroni (€25,262)

As well as his victory in this event and the 2009 WPT Celebrity Invitational, Freddy Deeb has cashed in three other WPT championship events and three WSOP events. His total live tournament career winnings have now exceeded $7 million.
