How to Play Rush Poker - Part 2, Gathering Intelligence

The first key to a profitable session is to realise that every hand is a completely new situation where no player has any real knowledge of how any of his opponents actually play. It is akin to sitting down at a table and dealt Q10 suited in mid position as for first hand and knowing nothing of the other players tendencies. Conversely, the opponents you will be facing have the same lack of knowledge regards you. So, unlike a normal cash game where you can setup players for later plays you have to play in the moment but I always try to remember one or two names of players I have pitted my wits against, limit players have another advantage here as the field of players is smaller. Limit players can therefore make notes about opponents as it is highly likely you will be facing them fairly regularly.

One trick to aid gathering intelligence or maybe to input notes on a particular player is to select "Sit out next hand" before you click fold, this will keep you at the table while the hand plays out. Useful if you wish to try and see what range a certain player will 3 bet with in position for example.

For the most part a solid style of play is the way to go, a playable hand is virtually always just around the corner. Yet this game is quite dynamic and it changes from tight to looser fairly quickly, sometimes within the space of a few hours. Be aware which way the action is flowing at all times and compensate.
