Jakob Karlsson Leads EPT San Remo after Day 3

Day 3 at the San Remo leg of the European Poker Tour ended late yesterday with Swedish pro' Jakob Karlsson topping the chip counts.

Karlsson ran over the opposition throughout the day and appears in good shape, as Day 4 gets underway, with 1.8 million chips in front of him.  The top ten, at this stage, certainly has a scandinavian feel about it.  Various Swedes look in good shape but one name that stands out from the crowd is that of Allan Baekke.  Baekke won the last EPT event, the Snowfest, and now with 66 players remaining he could complete a remarkable double.

Back to back titles on the EPT are unheard of so Baekke could make history if he takes the honours here in Italy this week.

Other players still in the hunt include Thang Duc Nguyen and UK poker babe Liv Boeree.

The top ten players and their chip counts at this stage look like this:

Jakob Karlsson — 1,800,000
Kadir Karabulut — 1,577,000
Allan Baekke — 1,485,000
Dmitry Stelmak — 1,443,000
Jens Thorson — 1,300,000
Per Albin Linde — 1,193,000
Michael Piper — 1,182,000
Dermot Blain — 1,032,000
Alexander Roumeliotis — 887,000
Thang Duc Nguyen — 870,900

The remaining 66 runners are chasing a €1,250,000 first place prize.  Play will continue down to 24 players today.
