The PokerStars UK and Ireland Poker Tour stopped in Manchester last weekend with an impressive 518 players paying the £550 buy-in for a shot at the title.
Holland's Joeri Zandvliet's short trip from his native country to the UK proved to be a worthwhile one. The 21 year old college student made his way through, arguably, one of the toughest fields in the UK so far this year to claim the victory.
Zandvliet's win netted him a £63,200 pay day after three days of top class poker.
Zandvliet took the title with pocket Nines vs Ace-Queen. A Queen on the flop looked like it might force Zandvliet to work a little harder for the win but a rivered Nine dashed the hopes of his opponent, Jack Ellwood.
The final nine from Manchester looked like this:
1st Joeri Zandvliet £63,200
2nd Jack Ellwood £37,500
3rd Mike Hill £23,500
4th Tony Millan £15,100
5th Dean Lyall £12,100
6th Christopher Brammer £9,100
7th Dan Owston £6,500
8th Tim Brown £4,800
9th Julian Hasse £3,650
The next leg of the UKIPT stops in Coventry on April 8th.
