One of the more successful of British pro poker players, John Gale bucks the trend by playing mostly online. At least, that was the story when he won his entry to the Poker Stars Caribbean adventure awhile back. With only half a year of Texas hold'em under his belt, but more than two decades of poker playing knowledge, John had been playing online poker four or five days a week. When he won the satellite that got him into the Caribbean adventure event, John took a 4000 mile plane trip from London to the Bahamas, where he went on to win nearly $900,000. He beat out a field of more than 400, and it is unlikely that the majority of those players were "online only" players.
John ranks among the top 10 poker players from England when it comes to dollars earned. Over $1,400,000 has come John's way through tournament poker victories. This comes from money finishes in the World Series of poker, the World Poker Tour, and the European Poker Tour.
