LeVar Burton Profile

LeVar Burton: He's been a slave, a futuristic officer on a starship, and the host of a children's literature show; ah, the life of an actor. LeVar Burton, born to military parents in Landstuhl, West Germanya, is defiantly an actor. His role as Geordi La Forge on Star Trek solidified his exposure to the world that started with his unforgettable role as Kunta Kinte on the TV mini-series that started many a career, Roots. Just to cover his bases and make sure that those too young to care about racial history or science fiction would get to know his face and voice, he took on the role of host and advocate for Reading Rainbow, a Public Television show that has endured for around twenty years.

On TV interviews around the subject of poker, LeVar has admitted to being a complete, one hundred percent, dyed in the wool World Poker tour addict. He stays glued to the screen as much as the rest of the poker world, even those who have never had dinner with an android or worked on something that was powered by dilithium crystals.

Well the fanboy got a chance to live the dream, appearing on an episode of the World Poker Tour's Hollywood Home Game, where he played for his chosen charity, The Earth Conservation Corps. He managed to win $2,500 for his charity, showing some serious poker chops with quad sevens by slow rolling an opponent all in and crippling his stack. He wasn't alone representing the Star Trek world; at the table with him was friend and fellow Enterprise crew member, Wil Wheaton. Wil, himself a poker player of some skill, and LeVar bumped into each other quite a few times, and LeVar busted out in fourth place.

Perhaps he would have done better playing for The Society For The Preservation Of Vulcan?
