Bodog Working under NewBodog Name

If you are a player at Bodog and suddenly found yourself unable to access the poker room or the website over the last couple of days, you are not alone. Without warning the very popular and US friendly poker room and sportsbook seemed to vanish of the virtual map, but the truth of the matter is they were there, just using a different name. Due to a legal dispute over ownership of the Bodog domain name, they are currently in operation under the name NewBodog.com

New Service Allows Poker Tourney Seat Reservation

It is only available at the Taj Mahal in Atlantic City currently, but the idea behind PTSeats – one that Full Tilt Poker's Phil Gordon may or may not have a lot to do with-  is an interesting one that already has people buzzing, and four major casinos besides the Taj are set to come on line. The idea is "seat reservation" for tournaments, which, it turns out, may be a pretty handy service to have.

The Purple Lounge poker site has a reputation for putting on a pretty swanky poker tour, and it sounds like the latest installment, the Purple Lounge Swedish Poker Tour, was no exception. The event is almost over after descending on eight towns in Sweden and collecting plenty of converts to the Purple Lounge way of running a poker tour. Helsingborg was the setting for the penultimate event, which took place at Club Cardinal, and the tour's popularity had preceded it as many players had to be turned away after the seats had filled up.

There were 34 players who all had their eyes on the prize in the recent National Poker League UK Open Main Event, but it was British poker pro Peter Gould who walked away with the £32,500. The Gould family accounted for £41,000, however as his son Josh finished in fourth in the same event for £8,500.

One thing I love about multi-table and multi-round blackjack tournaments, other than the obvious higher payout for finishing first, is that you generally only have to win the final table for the big moolah. In the preceding rounds, you only need to finish in the top two or three to advance through the event to the final table, which has a big impact on your strategy.
