You just don't see this kind of thing every day--an online prize pool worth more than $1 million dollars. It appeared out of nowhere on Sunday afternoon when more than 2100 players showed up for the monthly $700,000 Guaranteed tournament.

Norwegian crowned Poker King of the Caribbean seas - Norwegian poker ace, Eirik Bjourklund earned his place at the Captain’s table last night after cruising to victory in the Ladbrokes Poker Cruise Main Event and landing a first prize of $375,000.

Christer Johansson : Christer Johansson plays under the name “Betong,” Now, in the Maylay language, Betong means Bamboo, so Christer could be saying he is a flexible opponent at the poker table, bending in the face of opposition and then springing back to strike at the choicest moment. Then again…perhaps not. Either way, Betong or Christer, the man plays poker well. He has been compared to the Professor himself, Howard Lederer, in his composed, methodical, measured play. It certainly worked for him in the World Poker Tour event, the European Finals of Poker, where he won top place as well as over a half million dollars.

Thomas Aleksander Middleton: As much fun and excitement as the young poker playing crowd is having, and as much money as the poker industry is making, one would think poker pros would be happy about how popular the game has become. Take, however, the case of Thomas Aleksander Middleton; a young man who survived not one but two lucky blows in order to eek out a win of half a million Euros, money that Marcel Luske had his eyes on.  The gigantic fields mean the odds are growing against even the best of pros making it all the way to number one on a consistent bases. Of course, I doubt you would find Middleton complaining…

Rob Hollink : When the Flying Dutchman says you are going to win, you are going to win. At least, that’s what happened when Marcel Luske announced that fellow Dutchman Rob Hollink was going to win the 2005 European Poker Tour Grand Final in Monte Carlo. Beating out fellow Europeans such as Gus Hanson and Martin DeKniff, Rob took his countryman’s announcement to heart and took the first place prize money as well. Of course, his two decades of pro gambling experience might have had something to do with it as well.

Andrea Parker: They say that poker has always been a man’s game, and that it has taken years for women to be accepted at the table, despite a growing opinion that women make better poker players than men. Could it be that this is because the men were afraid women like Andrea Parker would join the game? Not because they might get shown up at the table, just shown up in general. Andrea finds her fun in more than acting and dancing; she also enjoys horseback riding, stunt driving, and target shooting. Just watch your back if you suck out on her in a big hand…
