Aggressive Poker wins at WSOP for Fred Goldberg
28-Jun-2007
620 players plunked down $1,500 to play WSOP Event 40, a Mixed Hold'em (Limit / No-Limit) game with a $846,300 prize pool. Fred Goldberg's aggressive poker served him well during no limit rounds, and his control was evidenced as he got heads up opponent Rene Mouritsen to push in with an inferior flush on the last hand.

Steamroller Thirds in WSOP Event 37
26-Jun-2007
Event 37, the $2,000 Pot-Limit Hold'em event, could be the birth place of a new poker pro. Bodog regular Yuval Bronshtein, getting plenty of play from his supporting site, picked up a new nickname along with his $100k and third place finish. The Steamroller rolled over Joe Hachem and TJ Cloutier, and showed no mercy for table mate Shannon Elizabeth while on his way to the top.

Erick Lindgren Profile
23-Jun-2007

Forty thousand dollars. Without the proper perspective, that number is meaningless.  Compared to the top heavy tournament prizes sought after by most poker pros, and the “biggest of all time” jackpots that are hitting around the hundred million mark, that figure is rather small. But to win one of those top prizes means playing hours and hours of poker, winning hand after hand after hand; what if you won $40,000 in a single hand of poker? If you are Erick Lindgren, you have, and for a single hand of poker that is a very large number indeed.

Chip Reese Profile | Background on Chip Reese Chip Reese
22-Jun-2007

The winner of the first ever $50k HORSE event at the World Series of Poker is no fresh faced, internet suckled pro. When David “Chip” Reese defeated Andy Bloch heads up in 2006 in the event, he won what fellow veteran pros were calling the “true” championship, the game that would determine who the best poker player was in a more definitive fashion that the traditional $10k No Limit Hold’em Main Event.  This was Chip’s third WSOP bracelet and the 17th time he had finished in the money.

WSOP Result Event 27
20-Jun-2007
Only one event report today, a table that started out pretty weak until things got four handed. Then Young Cho made an aggressive all in and called the clock on Michael Ium, who finaly called with a better hand. Cho’s luck was with him, however, and he started to push the table around quite a lot. In the end Cho managed a runner up spot behind Daid Stucke.

Live Broadcasts and Time Travel
08-Jun-2007
The only way the new broadcasts coming from the World Series of Poker website are live is if you have a time machine and move forward one hour into the future—but “One Hour Delayed!” isn’t as shiny as “Live!” so I guess we have to give them that. Event Six ($1,500 Limit Holdem) was the first live simulcast event this season, delayed to avoid anyone with a laptop and wifi connection in the audience feeding info to final table players about the hole cards.

The Pros Don’t Have it at the WSOP
07-Jun-2007
So far so good for those rooting for the pros to fail in “WSOP Getting” this year, as in five events the Pro Team has scored an egg in the “win” column. They came close in Event Four when Canadian pro Gavin Smith made it to heads up play and then lost it to amateur Mike Spegal. Annie Duke almost picked up her second bracelet in Event Five but was felted into third position.
