One lucky poker-playing lady will be taking home a cool $50,000 payday as the Partypoker.com Women's World Open officially kicked off today. Many of the top female poker players from around the world are going to be facing in London. Many people are saying that the odds-on favourite is last year's winner Bev Pace. Jen Mason and Maria Demetriou are also said to be serious contenders. The buy-in is $3,000.

Some of the other competitors are Xuyen "Bad Girl" Pham, the former PartyPoker World Open winner Pippa Flanders, ex-European Ladies champion Jackie Meecham and Lucy Porter, a well-known comedienne. The event is going to be captured on television and will be played out on UK TV screens during 2009 on Channel Five.
