The 1st three heats of the much anticipated PartyPoker.com World Open are complete and the winners are …
Heat 1
Britain’s Sam Trickett, who just finished in 4th place at the PokerStars EPT Event in Portugal, continues his run and shows his class at the table by winning Heat 1 and advancing to the final table.
The runner up in the heat was Marty Smyth who will get another chance to advance to the final table by competing in the runners up heat later this week.
Sam Trickett, a Titan Poker sponsored pro, beat out the likes of his English countrymen Neil Channing, Ian Frazer, James Akenhead, Lee Atherton in the Battle of Britain.
Heat 2
Young gun and Victory Poker pro Andrew Robl would win a tough 2nd heat living up to all the hype that has been surrounding him lately. The runner up finish went to Brandon Cantu.
Robl’s victory was not easy and this heat included another young poker online poker legend – Tom Dwan, otherwise known to online railbirds as “durrrr”. Also involved in the heat was the winner of the poker triple crown (WSOP, WPT and EPT winners) Roland De Wolfe who is always a top contender in tournaments.
Heat 3
John Duthie won what looked like arguably the toughest heat of this competition. The EPT founder would beat out MB Mahmood when the action got heads up.
This heat was full of poker’s biggest names including Hendon Mob’s Barny Boatman who finished in 3rd place. Also in the heat was PartyPoker’s own Giovanni Safina who had earlier this week finished in 5th place at the PokerStars EPT Portugal Event. Annette Obrestad – the young PokerStars phenomenon – would also be eliminated.
