Poker brat Phil Hellmuth has announced that he will be featured on the upcoming season of Dancing with the Stars.
The popular ABC television show features celebrities dancing and has a very large following.
The World Series of Poker Champion and 11 time bracelet winner made the announcement on Twitter saying “OMG! Phil Hellmuth (me!) on ‘Dancing with the Stars!’ Outrageous! Might make a fool out of myself on worldwide television one more time.”
Hellmuth and a dance floor don’t seem to be two things that would generally be associated with each other. In fact, conjuring up images of Hellmuth cutting a rug isn’t easy to do and seems out of place.
Poker fans are also use to his obnoxious outbursts and can only speculate if this attitude will follow him away from the poker table. He may well make tough judges look like pussycats with his retorts.
Either way, the extra exposure for poker in general in mainstream USA can only be a good thing for drawing new players to the game and helping to further raise the status of poker in the public’s mind.
That is, of course, if Hellmuth behaves himself and shows some class!
