Both Phil Ivey and Viktor Blom have been eliminated from the WSOPE Main Event.
Ivey would find his way to the rail in 19th place. He raised to 35,000 in late position after one limper. In the big blind, chip leader Ronald Lee re-raised him to 101,000.
After some thought, Ivey pushed his remaining 444,000 chips into the middle with AT. The bad news came for him when Lee made the call with AK to put Ivey’s tournament life at risk.
A king on the turn meant the tournament was over for Ivey and disappointedly for all his fans on the rail.
The other big crowd favorite – Viktor Blom aka Isildur1 of Full Tilt fame, would also fall.
It would be Ronald Lee again who spoilt the fun for the fans and railbirds alike cutting Viktor down a notch. Blom raised up to 23,000 from early position and Lee smooth called in late position.
The flop fell TcTd9d, Blom fired out 38,000 and was called. On a 2d turn, Blom bet 65,000 and was called. The river was a 6s and this time Blom checked. Lee then fired out 100,000.and Blom thought for awhile, sizing Lee up, before making the call. Lee showed Blom AA for the hand.
Now down to about 200,000 in chips, Blom would push all in over Brian Powell’s raise and get insta-called. It was a race with Blom holding 88 to Powell’s KQ. A Queen fell on the flop and no eight came to help out the youngster.
Sadly, that will end our chances of seeing the mythical figure at the final table. Luckily for fans, he was featured at the TV table so there will be some great footage of him in action when the WSOPE airs.
Hoyt Corkins would find his way to the rail after he four bet Fabrizio Baldassari who then pushed all in. Baldassari held KK to Corkins AQ. No Ace came and the Alabama Cowboy was out in 15th place.
The Hendon Mob’s Barny Boatman would find the rail after being involved in a three way all in. He got all in with his AK to Clint Coffee’s AJ, however, Roland de Wolfe was still to act and also got involved flipping over AA and in a dominant position. His Aces held, and both Coffee and Boatman found the rail in 14th and 13th place respectively.
We are now down to the final 10 players with the unknown Ronald Lee still leading the field, after starting at #1 for the day.
Roland de Wolfe is looking threatening in 4th place. He has won the Triple Crown – a WSOP bracelet, WPT title and EPT tournament – and must now be the favorite to win this hotly contested Final Table.
The Brit looks to be the home crowd’s best chance of winning this year’s title on home turf.
