The 2010 Paddy Power Poker Irish Open in Dublin is set to conclude later today with eight players, returning from the 700 that started, still in with a shot at the title.
Saneri Valikoski leads the final table after a strong Easter weekend in Dublin for the Finnish pro. Valikoski must be the short priced favourote at this stage but the other seven players could still in-roads into his 1,722,000 chip stack.
All 8 players are guaranteed a minimum pay day of €56,000 at this stage. However, one story worthy of note at this stage is that of Rob Sherwood. The popular English player was one of the qualifiers from Irish Open sponsors Paddy Power Poker. As part of the Paddy Power 'Sole Survivor' promotion Sherwood will now pick up an extra €100,000 from the Irish bookmaking giants as the last qualifiying player left in the event. That little bonus is almost twice as much as Sherwood is guaranteed from the competition at this stage and Sherwood will need to finish in 6th or better to take out more than his bonus amount from the actual prizepool.
The final table will line up as follows:
Seat 1: Peter Murphy - 546,000
Seat 2: Ben Roberts - 419,000
Seat 3: Edmund Sweeney - 407,000
Seat 4: Santeri Valikoski - 1,722,000
Seat 5: Rob Sherwood - 497,000
Seat 6: Paul Carr - 1,596,000
Seat 7: James Mitchell - 1,155,000
Seat 8: Declan Connolly - 735,000
All 8 are battling it out for the following prizes:
1 € 600,000
2 € 312,600
3 € 205,200
4 € 163,300
5 € 130,600
6 € 100,800
7 € 75,000
8 € 56,300
