We all remember when a plucky American producer stole an idea from a Swedish television show and took the world by storm. Now that we’re likely on to Survivor 35: Romford, we are now seeing a new form of Survivor become increasingly popular- but this is survivor of the poker variety.
Survivor Tournaments are more or less multi-table tournaments where the bottom 10% players are simply removed from the game at a given time. The game is fast-paced and each tournament has a fixed duration. If you only have a finite period of time to get your poker fix, why not jump into a Survivor Tournament- where you’ll get paid simply for hanging around long enough.
The basic strategy is to keep your cards tight and let your hands win it for you. You don’t so much have to worry about blinding out, but once people at your table start throwing chips around, you’ll have to start mixing it up if you want to hang around. It tends to reward more methodical play- but if you can’t take a risk at the right time, you most certainly won’t wind up in the money.
Ladbrokes Poker is offering up Survivor Tournaments with £20, £10 and £5 denominations. Over the coming weeks, expect to see more multi-table survivor and single-table survivor tournaments at Ladbrokes Poker!
