Danish poker pro, Theo Jorgensen, defeated a 247 player field to win the World Poker Tour Grand Prix de Paris at the Aviation Club. WSOP bracelet winner Jorgensen, who once won a boxing match against Gus Hansen, started the final table of eight as a massive chip leader and was able to control the action stay on top of the chip count throughout the final.
Jorgensen had a huge 10:1 chip advantage going into the heads-up stage against Antoine Amourette. Just three hands into the heads-up stage, Amourette pushed all-in holding K-6 only to find himself dominated by Jorgensen’s A-K. The 6-J-4 flop looked good to Amourette until an Ace came down on the turn. The 5 on the river didn’t help him either resulting in Jorgensen scooping the pot and €638,377 in first place prize money.
Final positions and payouts:
1 – Theo Jorgensen - €633,377
2 – Antoine Amourette - €328,690
3 – Per Linde - €234,780
4 – Mickael Guenni - €187,825
5 – Fabrice Touil - €140,870
Jorgensen’s live tournament winnings total to over $2.3 million making him 7th in the all time Danish money listings.
The next WPT event will be the WPT Spanish Championship which begins on May 19th until May 23rd at Casino Barcelona.
