VAN MARCUS STRIKES AGAIN!

Australian Van Marcus finally earned the breakout finish he has been looking for after years of consistent cash finishes in winning the 285 player field at the PokerStars Asia Pacific Poker tour stop in Manila. Marcus has been on PokerStars radar for a number of years as a must-watch player, but it took this first place finished to solidify his status as an up and coming tournament player.

KOREAN AND FILIPINOS MAKE PRESENCE FELT

The event itself had a major contingency of Asian players all cashing out in the event with three Filipinos and three Korean players all making the final table, which speaks to the solid reputation of the Asian market for producing some of the best players on the planet.  More interesting about the Korean players themselves at the final table (Tai Jun Noh, Hyoung Jin Nam and Chang Yong Suk) was their aggressive play that left Marcus needing a bit of luck to put his efforts over the edge.

Marcus hitting an open-ended straight after sucking out on the river during his all-in moment to eventually win the tournament certainly helped in winning the event, but without question the Korean players highlighted the fact that they are main figures on the global slate.

APPT'S NEXT EVENT

There is little doubt that Marcus has staked his claim on the PokerStars list of players to watch, and more then likely you will see him in the first week of December at the APPT's event at the Star City Casino in Sydney. Buy it starts at $5,930 for a seat at the 1200 player event, or online qualifiers can earn a spot at the regular qualifiers at PokerStars.
