World Series of Poker Europe Kicks Off

The highly anticipated World Series of Poker Europe has gotten underway in London.

The WSOPE is being held at London’s Empire Casino and will run until the end of September.

This year, there will be a total of five events going on including:

Event 1 - 6-handed NL Hold’em - £ 2,500
Event 2 - Pot Limit Omaha - £ 5,000
Event 3 - NL Hold’em - £ 1,000
Event 4 - NL Hold’em High Roller Heads-Up - £ 10,000
Event 5 - NL Hold’em Championship Event - £ 10,000

Big Names that have flown to London for the WSOPE include the who’s who of the poker world.

Taking part in the events are WSOP bracelet leader Phil Hellmuth as well as WSOP Main Event champ Chris Ferguson.

Joining him from the Full Tilt ranks are high stakes phenomenon Tom Dwan or durrrr to the online world, Howard Lederer, John Juanda and Mike Matusow

Eight time bracelet holders Erik Seidel and Phil Ivey will both be looking to add a WSOPE win to their tally.

With all the big named Full Tilt pros around, we are pretty sure that this WSOPE will follow the WSOP with big bracelet bets being made.  Dwan has already said that he has made bracelet bets and plans to win the WSOPE Main Event.

Other big names taking part are Antonio Esfandiari and his buddy Phil LaakPokerStars pro and WSOPE Main Event winner Annette Obrestad will also be looking to repeat.

Player of Year leader and PartyPoker pro Sorel Mizzi will try to wrap up a great year with a strong WSOPE finish. 

EPT winner Liv Boeree will be playing as well as British online pro Chris Moorman.

The WSOPE is also taking place in London at a time when British poker is at an all time high

British players have just finished an unbelievable run including winning the most recent events on the UKIPT, the WPT, the EPT and the PartyPoker World Open.  They also claimed five bracelets at this summer's WSOP.
