The final table ended up having two WSOP 2008 bracelet winners on it in the form of David Benyamine and Bon Phan, which really gave the event the silver lining that it needed.
Heads-up was between Canadian Watson and Frenchman David Benyamine. The decisive hand was when Benyamine found pocket queens on the exact same hand that Watson had been dealt an ace-king. All the chips went into the middle pre flop and Watson was the person who was all-in
The flop and turn brought blanks to see Benyamine just one card away from the win, but the river was an Ace, giving Watson the massive pot and crippling Benyamine.
Just a few hands later the game was over. Benyamine moved in with K 9 and Watson called with Q 9. Although being totally dominated Watson immediately proceeded to flop a queen and take the lead. The board finished with a 9 and a 7 and Watson was the first WPT champ of Season 7!
"I feel great. This has been a goal of mine for the longest time and it's great to finally achieve it." Said Watson "At the final table I really just picked up a lot of hands and there were a lot of cooler situations where I ended up coming out on top most of the time."
