The 2nd event of the WSOPE got underway while Phil Laak was busy winning his 1st ever WSOP bracelet.
However, that didn’t stop the Unabomber from jumping right back into the tournament action after a brief bracelet celebration!
Phil Laak holds the record for marathon poker so the 15 hours of straight poker between the two events is no problem for the newest WSOP champ.
He went on to survive Day 1 of the Pot Limit Omaha event and will try to keep the magic going coming into Day 2 of the event.
The PLO event has 120 registered players with many big names in poker making this a very tough event. In fact, there are hardly, if any, fish in these waters!
Players paid £5,000 to take part in this event that is being held at the Empire Casino in London and it really seems like it is mostly poker’s big boys who came out to play!
The 120 player list reads like an all star poker cast.
Some of the all stars to be eliminated on Day 1 include Full Tilt favorites Phil Ivey, John Juanda, Howard Lederer and November Niner Michael Mizrachi.
PokerStars’ Barry Greenstein will be coming into Day 2 with a big stack and will be dangerous. His PokerStars’ teammate and WSOPE Main Event winner Annette Obrestad however was not so lucky and is out of the event on Day 1.
Leading the tournament after Day 1 is Samuel Stein, who has already won over $1 million in live poker tournaments.
Stayed tuned as we bring you the latest news and updates from the WSOPE.
