WSOPE Main Event: Viktor Blom aka Isildur1 Leads, Phil Ivey Near Top

The WSOPE Main Event is heating up with big names like Phil Ivey and Viktor Blom aka Isildur1 rising to the top.

Blom, who is widely attributed to the online high stakes enigma Isildur1, is showing the world just how good he is. 

Coming into the Day 3 with the chip lead, he is a force to be reckoned with.

The poker world is hoping in awe that this youngster makes the final table and even wins the event. 

Viktor made Daniel Negreanu’s Top 5 List of Young Poker Pros coming in at #3 on the list. 

Negreanu described Blom:

“Not yet 21 years old this kid has become a legend in the poker world.

“The way he manhandled Tom "Durrrr" Dwan in their heads up matches made the poker world take notice, and whatever this kid does, people will watch.

“People I respect have told me that his NLH skills are remarkable and he approaches the game like no other, absolutely fearless and fun to watch.”

We certainly want more and hope that this talented youngster is headed for victory.

Phil Ivey Lurking

And let’s not forget the man, the legend – Phil Ivey.  With 66 players remaining, he is 6th in chips and always dangerous. 

He is driven to succeed in this event.  He said earlier this WSOPE that he wants to beat Phil Hellmuth’s bracelet record.

In addition, there are the big bracelet bets between top tier pros to keep him motivated to succeed.

Other Big Names That Still Have a Shot

PokerStarsDaniel Negreanu comes into Day 3 midway through the pack along with WSOP Main Event Champ Huck Seed and Full Tilt pro Eli Elezra.

Freddy Deeb is also still in this at 47th.

Andrew Pantling, who has had a great WSOPE, finishing 2nd to Phil Laak in the Six Handed Event, is 4th in chips.  He has proven himself a great player in the earlier event and is dangerous one he has some chips to play with.

This WSOPE Main Event is living up the all the hype associated with the original WSOP Main Event in Las Vegas.

With some of the big names going deep and the prospect of seeing Blom and Ivey at the final table, we will all hold our breath in anticipation.
